Protect your family. Older adults, children and pets are at greatest risk in home fires. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50IaNA1RtpQ There is no better home protection than fire sprinklers. #HomeFireSprinklerWeek

Fire sprinklers are activated by heat. Only the sprinkler closest to the fire activates.

Home fire sprinklers benefit everyone! Injuries to civilians and firefighters are reduced or eliminated and there are fewer losses of personal belongings if a fire does occur. Consider putting these in your new-build-home or retro fitting your existing home when remodeling.

Home Fire Sprinklers are your home’s first defense against fires and can put out a fire BEFORE a fire truck even arrives. Go to Homefiresprinklers.org for more information.

We are thrilled to unveil our new fire safety trailer!! Thank you, Assemblyman Meeks for your assistance in securing funding for this project.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM SATURDAY TO 1 AM SUNDAY… Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations 2″ to 4″ and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Plan on slippery road conditions and limited visibilities. Use caution while driving!

Hypothermia is most likely at extremely low temperatures, but it’s also possible well above freezing if a person becomes chilled from rain, sweat, or immersion in cool water.

In addition to straining the heart and other organs, impaired blood flow and decreased metabolic activity due to low temperatures can affect the brain, making movement and thinking clearly difficult. Dress warm and limit your time outdoors in cold temperatures.

Winter weather advisory for Monroe county from 2pm today until 6pm Sunday. Total snow accumulations 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake snow areas, spread out over the next few days. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph to 40 mph will produce areas of blowing and drifting snow.

In cold weather, the body can lose heat faster than it is produced. This can lead to hypothermia, which is a core temperature below 95 degrees. This can be life threatening and requires immediate attention.

Wind Advisory in effect for today until 4 PM. 20-30 mph winds with gusts up to 50 mph. Secure any loose or lightweight belongings.

Happy New year!! May 2025 be a good and safe year for you and your family.

Have a safe and Happy New Year! Use a designated driver if you plan on going out.

Gates Fire District would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!!

Be sure to set a timer when using the oven and never use it while sleepy.

Stay in the kitchen while cooking and keep a pan lid nearby to cover any stovetop fire that may occur.
